As the biting Mongolian winter fast approaches there’s 600 goats, sheep, camels and bovid yaks to migrate safely across Mongolia’s western steppes along a route used by nomads over generations.
For the family collective, brothers Ashubai and Shoshubai, this is important work as each passing day gets colder and winter’s minus-40C is not long away.
They must keep the animals moving - the strongest will survive whilst the weak will be left behind to perish, eaten by wolves or hunted by eagles. Sanctity of their winter home is 5-long-hard-days away.
